As I was photographing my adorable new niece yesterday (below), I was talking to my sister-in-law about how much things have changed… how much I have learned since I started photographing babies way back in 2008!

It was after the birth of my daughter that I decided that I wanted to start photographing just babies… When my sweet cousin let me practice on her son, I was so excited to create this photo (below)! This was the start of something great! What could be better? I thought… my two favorite things combined… squishy babies & photography, awesome! I had very little experience with studio lighting, no training in baby posing, and was just barely learning how to use Photoshop, haha! :P

Fast forward to today, many babies and lots & lots of training later, I look back and can’t believe how much I’ve grown! I feel blessed everyday to call this “my job”, and so thankful to the friends and family that let me “practice” on their babies in the beginning<3
While I can now see many flaws in my older work, I still love and appreciate all of those photos and those sweet little babies that are all grown up now, “practicing” on them was a whole lot of fun💕 And these old photos motivate me to always keep learning and growing! I can still see the flaws in my work today, and I’m constantly trying to improve, I don’t think I’ll ever stop being a student, I love this job too much!
