Melissa Landres Photography bio picture

welcome!

Thanks for stopping by! Do you want to know something about me? I am passionate about my [ photography ], I always have been...

When I was asked in high school: what do you want to be when you grow up? I always said a photographer. It all started with the photography and art classes in high school, I would shoot any and everything. Back then, we started our learning on a school issued 35mm film camera (do they even teach with those anymore? ☺). And after high school, I was "over-the-moon" when I got a part-time job with some local photographers, I was able to learn so much more about my art. But working or not, I would shoot every day, I was never without a camera! It was so very important to me that I documented the people that I loved and the many special moments in my life. I never wanted to forget those things...

Then, I got married and became a mother } On the day my first son was born, we took 354 photos in the hospital, 354!!!. It was insane. I remember thinking: thank goodness this is a digital camera! Because I didn't want to miss a thing! And it only gets worse as our little family grows, the shutter is always clicking. We have been blessed with three little cuties, two lively little boys and one sweet little girl. So my camera has now become an extension of my arm. And I am so lucky to be married to a super supportive husband who loves and appreciates photography just as much as I do.

Out of all of the material possessions I have, my photographs are the most valuable to me. In each image I've captured an expression, a laugh, a smile, a feeling, or a story. That moment has been forever frozen in time. And I would love to share that gift with you. So you too will never forget those things... ♥

session info

Each portrait session is tailored to fit the needs of your family. Most sessions will usually last 1-2 hours. They can take place in your home – indoors & outdoors – or at the location of your choice. Wherever you are the most comfortable. I also love to shoot urban portrait sessions. Warehouses, old cars, and weathered old buildings are some of my favorites. And since I love shooting with the natural light of the sun, we will need good light to create your beautiful portraits. So please remember when planning an outdoor session, early mornings or late afternoons are best.

For your newborn session, please contact me before the birth of your child. Why? Because the most angelic newborn photos happen during the first 2 weeks of life (the first 5-7 days is best) – when babies are all curled up and still so very very sleepy. So when you book your session, I’ll use your due date as a guide. Just call me when the baby arrives so I can schedule accordingly. Then, I will come to you! You don’t have to worry about cleaning or straightening up (you’ve just had a baby!) I will just pretend I don’t see anything… I can move miscellaneous things out of the background. We will take plenty of breaks during the shoot for nursing, diaper changes, etc.  And if you haven’t already booked and your little one has just arrived, contact me now!  I still might be able to squeeze you in – I just love newborns!

No matter what type of session it is, it will be relaxed and stress free! We will take some time to get to know each other, and have fun. We will pose some of the shots throughout the session, but I really love to capture you being you! And your children being themselves – playing, laughing, or exploring. My favorite type of family sessions are full of “real life” living and loving each other. My style might be considered non-traditional to some, but my goal is to capture the spirit of your family, for portraits that you will treasure for a lifetime ♥
